Potential Energy...

Do you ever look at a piece of furniture in your house and think...wait...when did that thing show up? Or maybe you were perusing an estate sale, thrift shop, or garage sale and thought...hmm really drawn to some piece of furniture, but I don't know how it will ever match my decor? Can I paint that? What do I do with those seats? Well my dear Marge, those are called "potential energy thoughts" and boy are they the spark to what comes next.

Here's the thing, you can up-cycle and modernize a great deal of pieces if you know how (or you know who to contact...ahem...me :) ) and the result can be a fantastic piece that compliments your decor at a much cheaper (and might I add usually better made) alternative to buying something brand new (not to say that sometimes something new isn't nice, but isn't it also nice to have something with a story....and you brought it back to life?).

Potential energy....it's not just a physics term, but it's the future you see in a potentially outdated, but solidly built, piece. It has to potential to be "re-invented", so to speak, and it's story told....or maybe given a different ending. I heard from a friend recently that he burned some chairs with rattan-backing. I'll be honest, it almost made me cry....I told him to please call me next time he's even thinking of that and I'll pick them up!
